Early Morning Wedding Hair // Wedding hair

Hi Everyone, So a few weeks back when I had the 4G Event… you would’ve probably thought I was up early morning prepping for my huge event, right? WRONG! I was up early doing hair for a wedding!!! Doing hair for one of my sweetest clients Kim to be exact. Im almost positive that she was the calmest bride i’ve ever seen. If you remember last Sunday…it poured down raining all day and as you may have guessed it, she had an outside wedding planned. She allowed me to come very early in the morning, even though her wedding wasn’t until the evening. And even still, she was very calm and confident in my work. I can not tell you how refreshing it is to have someone TRUST you that much. I’m sure she thought I was up most of the night before, with my mind running about all the last minute details revolving around 4G but……..

Instead, My thoughts were only geared toward deciding every possible way to work and re work her hair. You see, at her last trial run, just days before her big day, we were discussing the best option for the front of her hair, to make sure it was the most flattering for her! I was taking into account her dancing and all the hugging of family and friends and possible tugging on her hair. At this trial run, we had not yet come to a clear decision on what it would be. And then… I just happened to be watching the news and see the weather come on, I realize…. its going to be pouring down rain tomorrow. Ahhhh, a stylist’s worse nightmare!!! And you know what I thought??? BRING IT ON RAIN!!! So I went and made sure to add extra hairspray and bobby pins into my styling case, to ensure that every updo would be SNUG and stay in place! =) I got to her home that morning and worked my magic and came up with the most perfect Updo. Front to back and right before my very eyes, she transformed into that blushing bride! At the end of the day I can honestly say she looked AMAZING as did her bridesmaids…. Just take a look at a quick snap shot of the beautiful Kim and two of her maids…

Some hair got ROCKED that day for sure!!!!! However, because of the rain that day, Kim is re-doing her wedding pics next week. And I can’t wait to recreate my work of art again!!! Stay tuned for Kim’s Wedding Pics!

A Very Unexpected Reward // DAR Community Service

In these past few weeks I went to a DAR: Daughters of the American Revolution meeting/ luncheon. I went, for what I thought was, to support my grandmother who is the Regent of the Puc Puggy Chapter NSDAR. I, however, was recognized for receiving FIRST Place for Excellence in Community Service by the Community Service Awards Committee. I am so grateful to have even been considered for this award. My Mema emailed me a letter to let me see what the prerequisites consisted of to even be considered for this award and all I could think to myself was… I dont think i’ve done near enough yet to recieve this! Here’s what she sent me:

“The purpose of the Community Service Award is to recognize worthy local people from a variety of walks of life for outstanding achievements in educational, humanitarian, patriotic, historical or citizenship endeavors.  The recipient is expected to have contributed to his or her community in an outstanding voluntary heroic,  civic or benevolent manner, or participated in or organized community activities.  This award is not to be presented to members of NSDAR for their DAR-related activities. The recipient must not have received any salary or remuneration for this service.  The award may not be awarded to a recipient more than one time and may not be initiated or approved posthumously.  Awards that have been approved may be presented posthumously. There will be a limit of two (2) awards per chapter per NSDAR year.  This achievement should have taken place in the past five (5) years.”

HERE’S ME AND MY MEMA

And here’s a group shot!!!

I had no idea that my info was even being submitted… and to win 1st place? WOW!!! I just wanted to take the time to thank all of you who took the time to write letters of recommendations and would like to personally thank each and every member of the Puc Puggy Chapter for so graciously recommending me for this award! I am very humbled to say this award was given for my efforts to help mentor young women with my 4G Event through the Just For Grins Foundation. So excited, this years event is THIS WEEKEND!!!

As I understand it, I will now be placed in the running to receive a Presidential Award and can not even begin to tell you how honored I am! Thank you all again for all the love and support you continue to show me on this journey… cant wait to see what God has in store next!!!

Why I do…what I DO //Jacksonville Hair Stylist

Hello gorgeous!  I’m Mandi and welcome to my first ever blog entry!

I’m excited to get to know you better through this blog!  You… yes you, are the reason I do what I do.

I got into this business because I have a burning desire to bring out one’s True Beauty! I know first hand what one amazing hair cut or color or even an up-do can do for your self esteem. I don’t know about you but some days I have either good make up days or good hair days, but it’s that rare moment where both collide and I’m in my own little world and that day I feel UNTOUCHABLE. You ladies know what I’m talking about… your head seems higher (probably because you opted to now wear those heels instead of flats), your shoulders are back and you are now ready to take on the world! Well that’s the feeling I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE giving my clients. There is NO better compliment than having a client come in.. just exhausted from her life, looking a mess… and then TA-DA she is transformed back into this beautiful strong creature.. and she looks at me and says… ” Now I need my make up because I don’t know what I’m doing but I am going out tonight because I look way too good to go sit at home!!!”  There is no greater compliment than that! That is why I do what I do. As your stylist, I of course, want you to feel that way EVERYDAY.

Especially on your special day… I really enjoy doing Bridal Hair and event styled up-do’s! It is where I can truly express my creativity to its fullest potential. I love working along side brides to determine what the best look will be for them on that day. After all, you will look back at those pictures for the rest of your lives. And I will make sure that your look is timeless!

On this blog I hope to accomplish many things. I cant wait to share with you the love stories that I encounter, share with you all the hair tips and tricks that I’ve learned over the years and to share with you all the things that I am truly passionate about…

Until next time, leave me a comment here on the blog and tell me more about YOU.  Who are ya, where are you from, what celebrity hair do do you wish you had, if you could try anything new, what would it be? (extensions, Brazillian straightening, a new hair color, etc).  I can’t wait to hear from  you!

xoxo,

Mandi
